Groundhog Day

Okay, maybe that was a bit of an exaggeration. Yesterday was the day of the great camera lens search. Apparently the wide angle lens for our new camera is akin to a unicorn; there are just none to be found. However, two Best Buys, countless strips malls, and negotiations to buy the display model proved successful. And it was worth it!

The weather didn’t cooperate for a morning swim but somehow it still took forever to get to New Orleans. One cause of delay was lunch at the last Steak and Shake on this trip. We were pretty happy with decision! :)

Yes, we actually took this picture.

Mmmmmm!

And my wonderfully patient husband knew when I needed a coffee and blogging break. Technology and free wifi are awesome.

Wonderfully patient husband

But we finally made it to NOLA. First stop? Snow cones with Francois, Katie and their kid, Etienne. Yum! Then we met up with Michelle, our friend from Florida who happened to be vacationing here over the weekend. We hit Landry’s for dinner and stuffed ourselves with seafood and Abita Amber. Heaven on a plate.

Marshall and Michelle

It’s lovely to be here but Marshall commented that it’s so different as a tourist. Not nearly as relaxing or enjoyable, in some senses. Too much traffic, chaotic hotel lobby, too many people not knowing what they’re doing. Note to self: do not stay on Canal St. ever again, even with a good hotel rate. The traffic last night was not fun. And actually getting our car from the valet was an adventure. However, our mantra this trip? Go with the flow. And it’s working out pretty nicely. :)

Oh, and yesterday was the Red Dress Run. So New Orleans was swarming with men and women in red dresses and running shoes. Unfortunately, we didn't get any pictures but it was typical New Orleans. I love it.
