Our first day on the road was a success! Hit some rain on
the way, but it cleared up by the time we arrived in Ft. Walton Beach. I’d
never been to this part of Florida, and as soon as Marshall heard that, he
booked a beach front room for the night. It was worth it; the beach here is
beautiful! We were able to get some swimming in before sunset, enjoyed a few
frozen adult beverages on our balcony, and ate some local seafood for dinner.
The recommendation was excellent; the hush puppies were out-of-this-world.
I would definitely return to Ft. Walton Beach in the future.
It’s gorgeous and peaceful, the water is clear, and the sand is like sugar. We
had a quick breakfast at Cracker Barrel, went camera lens shopping (Marshall
has a new toy, as you will see from the photos), and will soon be heading
toward Pensacola. We should be in New Orleans partaking in Abita Amber by early
evening. I can’t wait!
I'm also going to start a small feature on this blog - Current Wildlife Count. I want to keep track of all the animals we see. So far: Turkey vultures, Domestic goats, Domestic burros, and Seagulls.

Evidence of Marshall's new camera. It's pretty cool. |

More camera fun. The grounds of the hotel so colorful! |
